John Hollingsworth
DMDDr. John Hollingsworth grew up in Greenwood, SC, where he attended Greenwood High School. He finished Clemson University in 1990 and went to The Medical University of South Carolina at Charleston to study dentistry. While at M.U.S.C., Dr. Hollingsworth was president of his class all four years. He was also selected to be a teaching assistant in the gross anatomy course. Upon graduating from dental school in 1994, he was honored with the Alumni Student Leadership Award, the Pierre Fauchard Academy Award, and the International College of Dentistry Award.
After receiving his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree, Dr. Hollingsworth furthered his education through an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Degree (AEGD), also at M.U.S.C.
In 1995, Dr. Hollingsworth and his wife, Lynn, moved to his hometown of Greenwood where he worked with his father and ran a successful practice for six years. In 2001, he sold the practice and joined Dr. Ron Sconyers as a partner in Anderson Family Dental Care.
Dr. Hollingsworth is a member of the American Dental Association, the South Carolina Dental Association, The Piedmont District Dental Society, the Tri-county Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry, and is a past president of the Upper Savannah Dental Society. He has served on the S.C.D.A Long Range Planning Committee and the Educational Foundation Committee.
He has chosen to advance his knowledge, particularly in the areas of cosmetic dentistry, temporo-mandibular joint dysfunction(TMJ), and dental sleep medicine for the treatment of sleep apnea.
Sharing the love of Jesus in his practice is Dr. Hollingsworth’s greatest priority. Nothing is more important to him than his Christian faith, his wife, Lynn, and his two children, Jake and Julia. They are active at Covenant Baptist Church where he teaches Sunday School.
He has served on the board of the Lions Club and United Way of Greenwood County and volunteers for the Anderson Free Clinic. He has coached numerous youth baseball, basketball, and soccer teams.
In his spare time, Dr. Hollingsworth enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, doing many sports, fishing, hunting, hiking, traveling, and keeping up with the Clemson Tigers.
Ronald Sconyers
DMDBorn in Chester, South Carolina, Dr. Ronald Sconyers graduated from Chester Senior High School in 1986. He attended Furman University from 1986 to 1990, graduating cum laude with a bachelors in political science. From there Dr. Sconyers attended the Medical University of South Carolina, College of Dental Medicine, in Charleston, South Carolina. He was vice president of his class for all four years, and graduated with honors from MUSC in 1994 with a D.M.D. degree.
After MUSC, he completed a General Practice Residency and two extra years of training in advanced dentistry at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was then selected from his class of residents to practice as an associate with one of the residencies’ most respected attending doctors, in the town of Clinton, Tennessee.
Wanting to return home to South Carolina, Ron and his wife Elizabeth began looking for a place to settle in the upstate and begin a family. They purchased Anderson Family Dental Care from Dr. William Simmons in 1998.
In 2001, Dr. John Hollingsworth joined him in his practice as a partner.
Dr. Sconyers is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the South Carolina Dental Association, the Piedmont District Dental Society, the Tri-county Dental Society, American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Ron is an avid pupil of the dental arts and believes that he must be a “life-long student” to be able to provide quality dental care to his patients.
The only thing Dr. Sconyers loves more than dentistry is his family. He considers being a husband to Elizabeth and a dad to his three children (Leila, Wren, and Townes) the best thing he has ever done. They are active members of the community and their church, the New Covenant Church in Anderson. Their faith in Christ is a guiding force in their lives. Dr. Sconyers strives daily to exemplify and share Christ’s love with those he interacts with.
He has been a member of the Anderon Sertoma Club, a service club, where he has served as President and Chairman of the Board of Directors. He has also served on the boards of Habitat for Humanity, Tri-County Younglife, the Sunshine House, and the United Way Campaign. He is a founding board member of Leadership Next, a countywide initiative designed to encourage and inspire the next generation of community leaders.
His true passion is his role as the Director of the Free Clinic’s Dental Department, where he coordinates dental volunteers, serves as the clinic’s primary dental provider and administrates the operation of the volunteer dental clinic.
When not practicing dentistry, Ron enjoys spending time with his family and friends, camping, and spending time in the great outdoors. He loves cycling the many back roads of the upstate and hiking the many trails nearby. He is a huge sports fan and loves to cheer on his beloved Furman Paladins. Go Dins!
